For those of you that don't check the bow hunting forum I thought you might still appreciate this pic.

RE: big doe pic

Not to be sceptical or anything but that doe is the size of a cow elk or you are a midget! Was photosuite used?

cfdjay 05-29-2004 04:50 PM

RE: big doe pic

It's no joke bro. I'm about 215-220lbs. I'm sitting a little back from her but you can see that in the pic. Man, I couldn't use photosuite if you paid me. It's legit. Sorry.

What did that heifer weigh and where was she harvested?

cfdjay 05-29-2004 05:32 PM

RE: big doe pic

I never weighed her but I was guessing around 160-170. I got her on the farm I hunt in Ohio.

RE: big doe pic

I would have guessed 300 (live weight)................

RE: big doe pic

I would have guessed 200-250 dressed! I have seen full grown elk that size! DANG!

I've seen doe like that out in Iowa already.Thought at first sight they were mules,or horses

cfdjay 05-30-2004 03:50 PM

RE: big doe pic

Thanks cardeer. I have people asking if I altered the pic, I'm sitting back too far, or that the pic is the only reason it looks big. I take that a little personal because that's basically calling me a liar. I thought these boards were supposed to be friendly, which for the most part they are. I'm glad someone else has seen doe this big.

RE: big doe pic

I was not wanting to call you a liar cfd. I am sorry that it was taken that way[X(]

I have just fallen for a couple of photosuite images on this board already and didn't want to be the brunt of the joke again.

nice big doe, my uncle shot a huge one like that about 5 years ago

dep214 06-02-2004 04:38 PM

RE: big doe pic

if i shot a doe that big i could not wait to weigh her so i would know. why did you not weigh her?.nothing personal against you but something looks fishy.the hands on the deers neck appear large where you are much smaller.the bow even appears large beside the deer.it seems normal size when you compare it to the size of the bow, stabilizer, and quiver

cfdjay 06-02-2004 07:14 PM

RE: big doe pic

Look, I have better things to do with my time then mess around with pics so my deer looks bigger than she is. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone by getting a bigger doe then they have ever gotten. This is getting ridiculous. I wanted to share a damn picture with fellow hunters. Period. God forbid it be a nice deer. There is nothing "fishy" about the pic. Do you say the same for the Drury guys, pics of Myles Keller with a deer? Why all the negativity on this board? If you wanna chase away members this is a pretty good way to do it. I see you are from Texas anyway, if I shot a deer that big in Texas, you're right, I would weight it. In Ohio however, these size deer are not uncommon. I will definitely think twice about posting another pic on here.

dep214 06-02-2004 07:20 PM

RE: big doe pic

people use this same old trick to make their fish look bigger.just look at the size of the deer compared to the bow.it appears normal size and not that big.where does it have anything to do with texas. a deer is a deer.a good deer is a good deer period.the bow is laying against the deer and looks normal size.the hands appear larger due to person sitting back.it is still a good deer but just normal and not that big.

cfdjay 06-02-2004 07:23 PM

RE: big doe pic

Wow, you really need to get of Texas and hunt a little bit in the midwest if you don't think there is a difference in deer

deer up north get that way....big deer.........you wanna no why....corn fed.........congrats on the kill.......the pic.....looks fine to me.......i've seen big deer up north....i've got kin folk in illinois....monster deer...plan on going bowhunting there next year.......;)

dep214 06-02-2004 08:09 PM

RE: big doe pic

that is not what i said. i said a good deer is a good deer.the pic clearly shows that the deer is normal size when you compare it to the bow.the body of deer here is usually smaller but the racks are just as big

dep214 06-02-2004 08:16 PM

RE: big doe pic

they are fed corn here also. corn alone does not make them grow larger.many of the areas that hold deer are pretty bare here/supplemental feeding is what keeps the healthy.north had more available food than here

IL-Cornfed 06-02-2004 08:25 PM

RE: big doe pic

The doe is obviously a mature animal that living in "cornfed" country has put on some pounds. I do believe the weight guess of 160+. I mean, yes the pic at first glance does make the animal look larger then life but you can tell proportion wise compared to the bow and his body that the camera angle is a off. BUT when you compare the fact that the doe isn't much longer then the bow you realize that it isn't a "horse", just a big mature doe for the midwest. Congrats on the mature deer, and don't let folks on the forums get your panties in a wad. Everyone is entitled to their own opion. ;):D For comparison this is one of the does I took this past season, she dressed 130#. They certainly look alot smaller when they aren't propped up though, still a nice pic however.

Very nice doe! Excellent kill, congrats!

The picture looks fine to me also. You're sitting behind the bow and the deer so naturally it's going to look a little bigger than you will. Still and excellent deer!

RE: big doe pic

that is without a doubt a big a$$ doe. i used to hunt in northwest missouri, and i shot one two years ago that dressed out at 135 and last year shot one that dressed out at 124. so does can get pretty big boys and girls. especially if they get to live longer than the bucks.

cfdjay,

That is a very nice doe no matter how you look at it. Don't pay attention to dep214, he is just an old cynical fart that has trouble playing with others. Your not the first person on this sight he has refered to as being a lier.

Hey cfdjay that is one nice size doe. I would guess that doe weighed anywhere over 180 pushing 200 lbs. That is one big deer. Congratulations buddy.

i never called anyone a liar.i just pointed out obvious things.like look at the size of the hand compared to the size of the does head.the hands look very big.i have no idea what you are referring to unless you yourself have lied about something

What you put in on the end was the part I was saying shut up to. It was just asking for more argument.

i had no idea what he was talking about and that is the reason i answered that way.that is only a normal conclusion

I've shot many of big doe's but none this size ,but I have seen them this big so you don't have to explain yourself to me .Here in ?Southern Ontario they can be large but in northern Ontario they get very very big .If any of you's have ever hunted in Northen Ontario or in Sask you know what I mean .So who care's how the deer is laying anyway's. Big is big and that's all there is to it.
