RE: big doe pic

Very nice doe. I shot a huge one years ago when I lived in North Dakota.
It weighed in at just under 200 lb. The reason the deer get bigger the farther north you get is because of the climate. Bigger deer are more apt to survive the cold winters. Its just another one of mother natures little tricks. That is why Florida deer are so small. Combine the climate with farmland settings and that makes for some big animals. A wildlife biologist told me this.

We'll never know how much it weighed because he didn't weigh it. I sincerely doubt it's anywhere near 200.... maybe 160-180. The picture gives a false sense of size because he's sitting back with his arms extended all the way. It's still a awfully nice doe. Every year someone comes up with an oversized doe. A guy on these boards shot one last year in NY and had it weighed and checked by a Game Warden..... it dressed at 185. In spite of the extended arm shot you can tell this is a hefty doe by looking at the blockyness and formation of here front shoulders. That type of development is usually reserved for a more mature buck. Heck, maybe this is a "Dike" Doe.[8D]

Deer have an acute sense of smell. There's no way she would have gotten anywhere NEAR that stench! ;)

Only David could come up with something like that!:D

cfdjay that is one fine doe, the pic does make it look larger than life! I will admit I initially thought "Man someone is playing games, but after looking closer and thinking about it, the 2 main reasons it looks larger than life are the way it is posed (which I think is excellent to show the true size of the deers chest and shoulders) and your arms being stretched out.

That is one heck of a nice doe, the biggest doe I ever killed dressed about 140, which is a really big doe in Va., I have seen a few doe over the years in Va. that were right around 160 dressed, but those are really few and far between here. As others have said the further north you go, the bigger the deer are.
