Blue urine 2
On this subject I typed alot and when I pushed OK it froze and never made it, so if it happens again I will be pissed.
I brought this topic up about 4 years ago. It was legit in that I heard a seminar was going to cover the topic of blue urine coming from deer. I bring this up because I came across another spot on the snow that was blue unlike the many spots I noticed 4 years ago. Has anyone seen research on this topic? I am assuming it has to do with nutrition........ |
RE: Blue urine 2
That is the first I've heard of this. What shade of blue is it? Is the color almost a shade of blue like Windex?
|
RE: Blue urine 2
It is really noticeable and yes it does look like Windex. What I saw in the past was noticeable being it was beloow freezing. The most recent that I had seen was not that visible due to the melting snow. The last 3 years I had not seen any.

RE: Blue urine 2
Wonder if it could be caused by the deer eating certain wild berries?
|
RE: Blue urine 2
Not to many berries in MN this time of year......
|
RE: Blue urine 2
I've never heard of blue deer urine before. I really don't have any idea what would cause that, but I'd guess minerals are to blame.

RE: Blue urine 2
When I was a kid, the folks would put Potasium Permangamate in the chicken's drinking water to prevent some kind of disease (it turned the water a deep purple). Then when I was in the Navy, some guys slipped a little of it in the big coffee pot! When the guys went to the bathroom, it was PURPLE! Scared them half to death!!!

RE: Blue urine 2
That was funny oldguy.
If it was do to the drinking water you would think it would be present everytime. |
RE: Blue urine 2
I have never heard of that happening around here but then again we do not have long periods of snow on the ground and do not see the color of the urine that often. I would be interested to know what was causing the blue.

RE: Blue urine 2
Maybe it was leaving a trail so it knew how to get home?
|
RE: Blue urine 2
I've seen it several times this year. I assumed it was from eating red cedar branches(green) and juniper berries (which are blue), the main food scources where the deer were. This was particularly true here in the northeast, shere the snow cover has been several feet thick for the past month, and no ather food scources were readily apparent.

Papa Smurf...................:D

RE: Blue urine 2
That's a good point, Buckstopshere. I've got to think that it has something to do with the available food, as you've stated.
