Wow, looks like it may have been a birth defect. Being it is missing from the actual body and not just part of the leg. Nice pics.

Thats a great pic. There used to be a 3 legged doe on the farm that I bowhunted when I was a kid, but her's was missing from just above the knee. I saw her for 5-6 years and having 3 legs never slowed her down a bit.

Was a 3 legged doe here about 3 years ago. First time I saw her, she had a yearlng with her. They came out in a open field about 30 yards from me where I was burning brush. Paid no attention to me. Two years ago a friend creased her back during bow season, We trailed, but very little blood and lost the trail. I did not see her this year, but I feel she is still around.

That is a great picture, I have never seen a deer with one leg that was from birth, I have seen a few that were shot off. That is a good picture!!!

What a great pic!!!! As stated by someone else, seems like he was born with out a leg. If it got torn off, I don't think it would look so clean. Cool pic.

thats remarkable that he has made it so long, I can't imagine being a 3 legged deer, has to be harder on him out there

that is cool. i have never actually seen a 3 legged deer in real life.

last year at the sportsman's show, they had a deer with a mini 14" leg growing from its back. pretty weird.

Nice - Very Nice picture.

I'm thinking the deer is 3.5 years old. And I'd be shocked if it were a birth defect. More likey the deer survived a severe wound (notice how the opposite antler is smaller in the first pisture) - two years ago, maybe even as a yearling buck.

That deer is very healthy, truly a remarkable animal. It just goes to show how great the survival skills of a whitetail deer are.

I don't want to sound like a guy that doesn't believe it but on the 2nd pic that leg does really look right. If you copy it to paint and zoom in where the leg meets the deer doesn't it look a little to square. Like if it was copy and pasted thier???. Also that deer does appear to be walking a little stable to, shouldn't he be favoring one side a little more? Very good editing tho

struttin tom0784,

This isn't Ripley's. You can choose not to believe it , but it's the real deal. These pics came straight out of one of my game cams. Skeptical people amuse me... wait, do they REALLY amuse me? [8D]

doesnt it seem like coyotes or some other predators would be all over it by the time it was a fawn or wounded like this??? it cant run very fast......

DuckHuntin247 03-01-2004 05:45 PM

RE: Buck missing his front leg

A little while back maybe a week or so there was a post with the EXACT same pics. Only thing different was it said, buck with 2 legs, and appeared to have only 2 legs on its left side. I CAN'T BELIVE I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERS THIS!! Anyone else out there remeber?????????

RE: Buck missing his front leg

duck hunter I was the one who edited the picture of the 2 legged deer. i took a copy of doemasters picture to the chopshop it was meant as a joke and most people found the humor in it

however i must apologize to doemaster as his picture (I believe) is as real as it gets and was posted for the value of information, not to be smeared upon.

so
I am sorry Doemaster i hope there are no hard feelings, I will think twice before editing a picture and posting it again.

If you buy a new Mathews you'll get a video along with it. In the video there is great footage of a three legged buck during one of the hunts. The buck looks to either have been born that way or it healed perfectly. It also gets around quite well.

jjt,

No blood, no foul... don't worry about it brother. I think it's kinda funny to see a handful of people getting so worked up about nothing. Like I said earlier, skeptical people amuse me... wait, do they REALLY amuse me?

DuckHuntin247 03-05-2004 06:48 PM

RE: Buck missing his front leg

Sorry about that doemaster, after i made the last post it crossed my mind that maybe it wasn't you who made the 2 legged deer post. Sorry about accusing you before i was sure it was even you. Now that that is cleared up, nive pics.

I shot a 3 legged buck like that a couple of years ago. There was another buck with him, but the 3 legged deer was larger. When we butchered him it did appear to be a birth defect, there was a "little leg" under the skin at the shoulder

BambiKiller223, I don't know why but I feel like I want to vomit. Damn Thats kinda like that scene in Total recall. I would have had to thrown that one back in. Just kiding of course but damn that makes me ILL.

I have never seen anything like that. I feel sorry for him but judging by his body size and overall status I would say he is totally healthy.
