I would have to say Fred Bear is the greatest, he made the .270 obsolete.

If I had to pick one of the greatest hunters of all time. It would have to be Teddy Roosevelt this man is why we have public and national forest lands today. Plus he was a hunter of hunters he hunted with every thing from knives to big bore rifles.

I am going to move this over to the deerhunting forum....as it may be more appropriate over there.

Though I do agree...Jack OConnor is an expert in the field.

Jack O'Connor was a good writer, and a good hunter, so were a lots of others! Fred Bear, and Elmer Keith to name two.
But I would have to agree that Teddy Roosevelt has done more than any other person to conserve our wildlife and to promote hunting, hands down!
