New Hunting Buddy!!!

Sorry that I haven't been on the site for a while everyone. Last Tuesday morning at 2:23 a.m., my newest hunting partner came into the world. My son was born!!! He was 7 lbs. 10 oz. and 20 1/4 inches long. Guess his name.....Hunter! I have already told my wife that when he is old enough, in a couple of years, I am going to take him out with me for pre-season scouting. I want to make sure that he gets into the sport while he is nice and young and then see the end result when dad brings home the deer for the season.

I told him that I would even have to show him how to perform the keg toss so that he can be ready to go with Tazman, trophyhunter, farmcntry and NY Bowhunter and myself.

Well congrats NEB, Hunter is a perfect name! BTW make sure you start him off calibrating root beer kegs! I love teaching my future hunters as I am sure you will also.

RE: New Hunting Buddy!!!

Thank you all.

Taz, I already have his first calibration set ready for him. I'll bet by the time that he's 5, he'll be ready to go out with us.

NYB, I got very lucky with the Mrs. Normally she would never let me name him that, but since he came during a tough time in our marriage, she thought that maybe if she let me name him what I wanted, maybe that would make things better.

Stump, you'll love the experience! To some extent, it's better than taking that buck you have always wanted and are anxiously awaiting your chance at, and then finally taking him. If you ever neer any advice before he's born, let me know. I feel like a pro now after having 2 in 15 months. I look forward to taking him out into the woods and taking his first squirrel, rabbit and then move up to birds, then deer.

[8D][8D][8D] Congrats to you and the bride on the new Cornhusker "Hunter"! Life is great and now you can look forward to many years of a wonderful experience. Nothing quite like a dad and his boy going afield together as teacher and student. Nurture that relationship gently, slowly and one day you shall return from afield as best friends for life. You will treasure that walk home to momma. When that magical day arrives give her the hug of a lifetime and thank her for Hunter.

I have to say CONGRATULATIONS !!!! I know how you feel, my huntin' buddy will be here in 15 days. I wen't with Caden instead of Hunter (although it was an option) it's american for little fighter. My wifes idea was Hoyt, but we passed on that one too.:D:D:D I wish you all the best!

Congratulations. I started taking my guy along when he was about a year old. We just looked at a picture I have of him at that age out in the woods. He's ten now and we just finished the year of firsts...

...first duck
...first goose
...first deer

He's been shooting squirrels, pheasants and rabbits for a couple of years now. Off the record!;)

The best thing you can do for your son and for yourself, take him hunting. You both will get so much out of it.

Greg

Congrats!:D My wife and I are expecting the arrival of our first son in late February. My wife has already told me that I can get him involved in the outdoors, (which I planned on doing anyway). She shot down the name Hunter though. She saw that one coming a mile away. ;)

OregunHntr,

I totally agree with what you're saying man and I am sure that he will lvoe to go the the games with his old man some day. I have to admit though, the Huskers may be pretty tough to beat this year. Callahan and the rest of the new coaches have been doing some amazing things with the team, plus we have recenlt acquired soem awesome recruits.

Thanks to everyone for all of the well-wishes. I think that my son and I will be out hunting quite a bit together from a young age.

trophy...great idea! I think that I will have to throw him on my back this year to take him out with me. I am sure that he will really enjoy it. Heck, I may even take my daughter out with me....even though she won't be quite 2 by the time season starts.

I can't wait until he finally takes his firsts like Gryans' son. I really look forward to those days and can't wait until they get here.

Congrats on the boy, I tried with the same name and it didn't fly..... I've got a little girl due in March............she may be a little young for this turkey season, I'll just have to see how mature she is for her age.
