legal shooting hours

Whats yall's thoughts on legal shooting hours here in Va its 30 min before sunrise and 30 min after sunset i think that they should be a little sooner in the mornin and a lil later in the afternoon but its not like if i see a deer while im comin out the woods like im not gonna shoot at it anyway.

if you look real close at the time of sunset and rise, you can't see past or brfore that time anyway.

1/2 hr. after sunset is dark.you have to go by the book time of sunset.watch the news in the evenings and it will give you the time of sunset, then watch the darkness and it is pretty close.it is close enough that you can't see anything well enough to tell what it is ; man or beast.([X(])

Our legal times are the same as yours but the amount of light present is very dependant on whether there is snow on the ground and the cloud conditions. There are times that it is very dark during legal times and times where shooting light is still present outside of legal shooting time.

I think they're right on target. There's no need to shoot in the dark.

There have been times when the ground is snow covered or the moon is full that i could see deer well after legal shooting--but if it's not legal it's not legal! And that's not just my opinion that's a fact.

This question is always interesting in Alabama where the law simply states hunting in daylight hours only. Big grey area. How good a scope, phase of the moon, etc. I play it safe and go by the 30 minute rule.

How would you know whats 100-200 yds behind your target at almost dark ? Times are right IMO.

Like others have said, depending on weather conditions or moon phases, sometimes for short distances you can see well before or after legal hunting times. 1/2 hour before sunrise and after sunset are good times!
If it ain't legal, don't shoot!
