RE: legal shooting hours
if you look real close at the time of sunset and rise, you can't see past or brfore that time anyway.
1/2 hr. after sunset is dark.you have to go by the book time of sunset.watch the news in the evenings and it will give you the time of sunset, then watch the darkness and it is pretty close.it is close enough that you can't see anything well enough to tell what it is ; man or beast.([X(])

RE: legal shooting hours
Our legal times are the same as yours but the amount of light present is very dependant on whether there is snow on the ground and the cloud conditions. There are times that it is very dark during legal times and times where shooting light is still present outside of legal shooting time.

RE: legal shooting hours
There have been times when the ground is snow covered or the moon is full that i could see deer well after legal shooting--but if it's not legal it's not legal! And that's not just my opinion that's a fact.

This question is always interesting in Alabama where the law simply states hunting in daylight hours only. Big grey area. How good a scope, phase of the moon, etc. I play it safe and go by the 30 minute rule.

Like others have said, depending on weather conditions or moon phases, sometimes for short distances you can see well before or after legal hunting times. 1/2 hour before sunrise and after sunset are good times!
If it ain't legal, don't shoot!
