LIGHTFIELD MAKES A 3-1/2" SLUG, BUT ITS LOADED TO BE THE SAME AS A 3". ON THE LIGHTFIELD WEB SITE IT TELLS YOU WHY YOU SHOULD USE A 3-1/2" SHELL WHEN USING A SHOTGUN CHAMBERED FOR SHELLS UP TO 3-1/2"

most companies put all there research $$$ into the 2 3/4 inch slugs.
The 3 1/2 & 3's really dont make any difference. JMO

No Joke!

On the bench, my Winchester 2 3/4's Partition Gold slugs pack enough whollop on my shoulder for my personal taste. - but you cant even feel it in the tree.

On the bench, I'd rather shoot my dad's Browning A-bolt with the 3" slugs any day compared to my 2 3/4'ths Partition Golds. Out in the woods, hand my the Partition Golds any day

3 1/2 inch mag slugs ,for deer ?I hope not.Wouldnt it be kinda overkill?I killed alot of deer ranging from 70lbs to 180lbs in the past couple of yrs using 2 3/4 Lightfields. It is unimagionable the damage that shell can do.Three shots from a 3 1/2 mag,BANG-BANG-BANG-- your facing the other way.OUTCH!Remember, how wide is a deers body,18-20 inches?[You could kill a deer with a 22 if you hitem right. ]Just aim for the shoulder and break bone,he wont go too far, trust me,1 1/40z of lead from a 2 3/4 shell,I think is plenty.3 inch is ok,but 3 1/2-Mag,WOW!!!Just my opinion, not trying to offend anybody. If your planning to hunt large bear or moose with it ,go for it ,and good luck!!! p.s.I also shot Winch. Gold,1 box and I bruised like a peach!!sissy, huh?

Every article I've ever read that tested multiple types of slugs through various guns always said the 2 3/4 shot better in every case. No need for any more. I agree with beaglefreak...A 22 will kill 'em if you have the right shot placement.

It would hurt less to have Mike Tyson punch you in the shoulder than shooting a 3 1/2 slug!

I just sighted in my Ithica deerslayer with Winchester platinums 2 3/4's. Took a doe that same afternoon at 75yds...I use to shoot the old BRI 3 inch sabots and smacked me pretty hard but were not too accurate.
