12 ga. ,I cant imagine that they make a 3 1/2" slug for a 10ga., Imagine shouldering that punch? That would knock you into another zip code!!They would find me laying curled up next to the deer in a fetal position sucking my thumb.

I've got a Browning 10ga. Gold that shoots 3 1/2in mag. It actually kicks less than my 12ga. with 2 3/4 in slugs. I believe the reason being is the browning 10ga is about 10lbs and has a gas operated semi auto action. The gun itself eats up most of the kick. I'll be the first to admitt that the 10ga. is a bit of overkill. I generally only use it for deer whan my farther and I are hunting together in a shotgun only area. He is a rifle hunter so I give up the 12ga. to him as he dosn't own a shotgun.

you want power? my friend works at Lafarge cement, the biggest cement co in the world. when they get scale build up in the giant kilns , they use an 8 GAUGE 4" MAGNUM SOLID COPPER SLUG to shoot it out. You should see this cannon!! They bolt it to the floor and blast away INSIDE THE KILN! PSYCHOS! I mean, you could stop a Sherman Tank with this thing!!!

I will see if i can get some pics, you'll enjoy them!

I think using that for deer hunting would end all controversy about shot placement, and, you probably wouldnt need to gut it afterwards....;)

Moose, I've seen an eight ga before. I think it was on TK & Mike's duck hunting or turkey hunting.:D No seriously, most states don't allow anything bigger than a 10ga and the 8ga would be about at effective as a .50cal. I personally like to make my burger after I skin the deer.;)

I didnt really notice a difference between 3 1/2 and 3 inch. So I just use 3 inch

I have some 3.5" slugs for my 10ga. Federal makes them and if memory serves the lead weighs in at 1.75 oz. In all honesty, my comparatively light 870 with rifled pipe kicks A LOT more than my 11 lb smooth bore BPS 10 with the 3.5" slugs...

Is there such a thing as a full-power 3.5" load? I always thought a maximum charge of powder was a maximum charge of powder, regardless of whether the shell measures 2.75", 3" or 3.5".

Remington makes an 8ga for shooting out clinkers...
