RE: Does any one not shoot does ?
Good luck on your future hunts. Every state has wildlife management to control the populations of deer. Some years, when deer populations get to high, more tags are issued to thin the herds. Nature doesn't always balance out to favor good healthy herds. When herds get too plentiful, they over run the fields, deplete food supplies, destroy farmer's crops and become a hazard for roads and highways. In Missouri last year they issued no-limit doe tags to balance out the herds. Even with no limit, there were not enough deer taken for good balance. Today Mo. is considering other alternatives to also thin down populations. One nice thing in Mo. about taking extra doe is the food pantries. We have stations to drop off your deer for free processing and free distribution for needy families with no food. The entire deer must be given to the processing station and they handle the rest. The state reinburses the station for their time and the people that need food benefit from the product of your hunt. I think it's a win/win situation for all and the deer will be healthier and more stable. Good hunting and enjoy the hunt

RE: Does any one not shoot does ?
I shoot what ever is legal game in season. The only deer I may even think about not shooting is a first year deer..........if the freezer is empty then I'm shooting.
I just don't get to see enough deer to pass them up, no matter what sex they are. My primary goal is to fill the freezer. If I get a shot at a great buck then good for me..........if not, no big deal. We don't buy beef........I have to put the steaks on the grill for a year man. Does taste just fine to me ;) |
