Nascar88: Greets, Well here in western oregon the hunting book lists the Columbian whitetail as a protected species, we cant ashoot em and are supposed to learn to ID them so we wont. I dont think eastern Or is any different but I could be wrong.
Mamadoe: Greets,
Well I have foolishly shielded her from it, when we brought them home they went strait to the storage garage for skinning and boning. We do our butchering ourselves ( deer, not sure I am ready to tackle an elk butchering job *G* )And the other deer we took went to my hunting partners house for skinning and cutting up. I just assumed she wouldnt like it so i never let her see it. Odds are good she won't like that part, I really dont either, but the hunt, and the eating of the meat later is WELL worth that side of it. I just look at the skinnig and cutting part as the neccessary work after you get to play.

Just my uneducated opinion!

I have a little girl that is five years old thats begs to go hunting and fishing. Every time I get a kill she gets in the pic and gets her lil knife. I took her bow hunting twice last year and we saw turkeys and hogs both times. She absolutely loved it. I wouldn't take anything for it either. I also took her Sheephead fishing last weekend and let her reel in a couple for me. You should have seen her catching those Fiddler Crabs.

I started deer hunting this winter w/ my boy friend. I just got my own gun, a .308 spanish mauser, and I'm really excited about next season.
