and everyone else one too many times...A retired NJ corrections officer/taxidermist recently tried to enter another entry into the books but didn't make it. He had a turkey and coyote and whitetail nontypical. While trying to enter a Typical buck for muzzleloader he embarrassed himself. Boone and Crocket wasn't buying it this time. They payed him a visit and wanted to see the gutpile and harvest location and he said that animals must have eaten it. So they then proceded to take dirt from the animals hoof and examine it more closely(modern forensics will get you everytime). It turns out that the dirt wasn't native to the hunting location. The end result was they found out that he hunted the deer in PA at a fenced outfitter and brought it back to NJ. It was a 180 pound deer that he claimed he shot in salem county. Bummer for him - being busted in a big lie like that. The turkey was raised in his backyard....so say some people who know him and knew he had a turkey he was raising. They told him he was full of it and they probably tipped off Boone and Crocket to check out his story.

I grew up, and currently still hunt in Salem County NJ. 180 pound dressed deer are very common, so it's not hard to believe. However, I think I know who you are talking about and would like to know where you got the story. Most people south of Trenton have suspected this guy of suspicious activity for years.

Lying and cheating is the only way some people know how to play the game.
I do have a couple questions about the story though. First off, why did he take the buck to be scored before he even skinned and processed it? I haven't heard of too many deer being offically scored by B&C on the hoof. Also why did he lie and say it was killed in PA? B&C could care less what state you kill it in, so he could have just said he killed it in NJ? Also, I've never heard of B&C asking for a gut pile?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the story isn't true. It is just very bizzare. However, people trying to cheat and lie will do very bizzare things. What a loser.

Asked to see the gut pile?? That's bull$hit! Whenever we clean deer we dump the guts either in a large pit or deep in the woods. The ones in the woods don't make it past one night and good luck sloshing through a pit of approximately half a ton of guts chok full of maggets looking for ONE buck's guts. Something aint right with your story pal.

Pa. Game commission has a scoring session once a year ,just for pa bucks.I went one time to look around. What a joke guys were bringing in mounts and racks that were 180's and 200 scores. Then I noticed a person I knew that went to canada every year and there he was with a 190 buck bragging how he shot it in Pa.Half them trophy bucks listed in Pa are imports.

I'm not making it up and i don't care really. He said he shot it in NJ for a NJ record. They found out it was taken in PA on private hunting land. The deer was a "farm grown deer" so to speak. When he tried to apply for NJ muzzleloader Typical they investigated and he got caught. I was told that they took dirt from the hoof after he couldn't produce a gut pile. They probably went to him immediately after he said he killed the deer...the next day maybe??? and wanted to see the location. All i know is I know someone who knows him well and worked at the same place as him and has no reason lie to me about it. The guy got busted in a lie is the end result. They found out he just got back from a trophy hunt in PA. Do you own detective work if you have to but I'm only telling you what a grown man told me and he found out from somewhere else. Hey, It could very well be a rumor but they were already suspicious of the guy and the story has it that he's stone cold busted. If you think I'm making it up thats fine...I don't give a rats butt...It's no skin off my back...i just thought it was interesting and the lengths people go to for status or whatever reason they would cheat. I'd rather have the real thing so i could enjoy it and know i really got lucky or earned the deer. A person can't lie to themself unless you believe your own lies so what good is lying about a record book buck except if there was money involved maybe. Otherwise it's just living a fantasy of deceit. AHHHH grasshopper.
