WHAT TO DO AFTER DEER SEASON?
 

Well this is a problem we all face when deer season is over, what to do? Well i move stands and scout areas for rublines i didnt know were there. Then when the end of march gets here i get ready for fishing season in florida. Get the boat out and catch red fish, trout,sharks and pompano. Then when Sept. rolls around its back to business. What do you do in the off season, oh yeah i will sling some lead at a gobbler also.

Work with my horses and try to find a good outfitter to finally set up for next season. Most of the time, "next season" translates into well....maybe next year. Fishing is always a bonus also.

Basically kill time until Turkey season....Duck and woodcock hunt, maybe take a grouse trip. Shoot some squirrels. Fish some for the Crappies in early March...
I'm gonna tan a hide I have in the freezer, that should take up a little time.

1) Shed hunting
2) Scouting and moving stands around
3) Some turkey hunting
4) Fishing
5) Since I've pretty much been gone the whole fall, I'm sure I'll have some honey-do chores, too!

Spend some time with my wife to make up for my absences. We'll take in some snow skiing in North Carolina and head to tahoe the end of february.

Ice fishing. working up new rifle loads. Boat fishing and camping. Then hunting again. Although I live for big game season, I fish much more than I hunt.

down here in the south, fishing is good all year long, so whenever a hunting season ends you just trade your gun for a pole until the next one begins.

I have until January 3rd to hunt so I refuse to even think about it. Actually I may just have to take advantage of the extended urban archery season, just have to find some city slickers that are tired of the deer hitting their cars and eating thier bushs! i can and may extend my season for a few more months.

Do some target shooting with my son. I need to get him ready for next
year so he can hunt with me. Do some scouting for Turkey's. Shed hunting.

I work on different rifle loads and tinker with my bow set-up. I also do lots of scouting and move stands or put up new ones. I plan on giving Turkey hunting a try this spring and it will be my first time so that should be interesting since i know little about Turkey's. Lastly i'm comitted to more overtime at work during the off season because i don't put in much during hunting season so all the other stuff i like to do will depend on my work schedule.

Scouting, shed hunting, hitting the range/yotes for practice, wood working, making jerky & ice fishing. I never really look at it ending but rather about 2 week vacation then it is a new season beginning with scouting and planning for next fall. I keep a journal and when my rifle is put away I enter in all the notes into my master copy...this keeps busy for a few hours as well.

c'mon down to jersey. our season goes to the middle of APRIL!!!! then we kill some tukeys, and find some sheds (which i have posted some on my page listed below). look for some stand sites, clear shooting lanes. go a couple dozen times to CABELA'S. fight cabin fever. go shooting.

I do my 223 reloading and get ready for the woodchucks. Shot 105 of them in Western NY last year. A personal best ! I gotta start shooting the pistols more and get some confidence. I may get a partial knee replacement in the spring as it's getting to the point that I can't stand the pain any more. Check out the stands. Put up some new ones and cut / clear shooting lanes.

I get things around the house done that I have put off for the season, also the same with the truck. And last but not least get out there after those muskies and large mouth.

I do alot of scouting after the season is over right up until the time when the woods starts to turn green. After that, it's fishing, riding my '84 Harley superglide, that's all year round, and going to the races, drag racing and dirt track.

I was planning on putting this thing off for a few months but went to the neurosurgeon yesterday and as a result might be doing it the week after Christmas.(Before deer season is over)
I am really bummed out over this.

Miss deer season....

Go back to my regular life....

Build new stands, scout out funnel and feeding areas since the snow shows the tracks real well, clean rifles and wash cloths, pack away hunting cloths and hunting stuff.

Ice fish for pickerral, bass, pand fish, than when lakes thaw, fish some more.

Miss deer season some more, do some more scouting and spotting.

Enjoy life...
