Has anyone heard anything about the Dryden deer? It was taken in Ontario after legal shooting hours and siezed by Ministry of Natural Resources. It's supposed to beat the Hanson Buck by 41 points.

Scott, There are a few threads on it with pictures, if that's the name of the poacher, I wouldn't use his name when describing the buck. Look down the page you'll see a thread shot by poacher, that's one.

Thanks CharlieP. It's the name of the town from which it was shot, not the shooter's name. Dryden, Ontario. The picture doesn't look like it would beat the Hanson Buck by that much. It's heavy but it's not very wide and the tines aren't that high. A lot of deductions, too.

Thanks. I also saw the Albia buck. It's already mounted!!! It usually takes 6-8 months to get a deer head mounted around here. They must have quick tanning methods in Iowa. Either that or they used a cape that was already tanned.

Here in Nebraska, it takes at least 5-6 months to get the mount back. Getting one back that quick, I would say could cause problems if they used the same cape. My guess is that they probably did and the person will regret it in 5-10 years because the cape will start pulling away from the mount. It's sad to see that happen to someone's trophy because they either wanted it back so quickly or the taxidermist just rushed it through.
