Great advice here. Look at it this way, there are a LOT of people with 4-year (and higher) degrees in this field, with relatively few jobs open each year. You want to be as competitive as possible, and the degree is just the starting point to get the interview. While getting your degree, be sure to get as much internship experience as possible! That's what will get you the job. The degree just gets you the interview...everyone interviewing will have a similar degree. It's your experience that will set you apart.

This applies to just about every job in some facet of natural resources (I'm on the forestry side).

Along with a degree in science you might want to look into getting a certification in CPR/first aid and law enforcement. It will open a lot more jobs up for you especially with the National Forest Service.
