RE: Dumping the carcass by the road.

I hunt in the UP of Michigan. As stated earlier were not required to check in our deer. But this year I processed my deer at my parents house and placed the meat in coolers to transport home due to temps being warm in the metro Detroit area. I also placed the head in the cooler to take to the DNR for check in but I always dump the carcass back in the woods near where I hunt, usually in a very thick area, where others don't have to see it or walk by it. Of course where I hunt there isn't many other people around anyhow.

There are plenty of other animals around that can feed off the fat and scrape meat that's left on the bones, etc. So as I see it in my area I'm just helping out other's fatten up for a cold and snowy winter.

Things like this disappear quick in the wild woods of the UP. For instance I left my arrow near the gut pile and wanted to go pick it up before hunting that afternoon. It had been just over three hours since gutting my deer and when I returned the gut pile was completley gone.

So I guess it all depends on each individuals situation in what some might consider right or wrong.
