Just think of how sue-happy the country is today
How true is that! I would like to see the stupid person fry but if he lives he will sue & probably win. Good point.

Even if a hunter did die on a pole, his family would probably sue on his behalf. No one would stop to think how irresponsible the hunter was as long as a quick buck could be made off of his death.

There's also the power cos right of way to consider . If you can touch the pole you're already trespassing .

I've actually seen guys climb up onto the transmission towers here in Onatio and set up on a board that they run through the supports.

What ever happened to common sense? And being able to sue someone else because of your stupidity should be outlawed. [:@] I hope the guy got an honourable mention in the Darwin Awards for almost offing himself in that way.

I am lucky to climb into my truck let alone a power pole.:)

RE: Question of the day for me!

I once found where a buck had been rubbing his antlers on a power pole so I set up a tree stand in a tree about 25 yards away and shot a B&C buck the next morning.

I would think going up a power pole would not be smart or legal.

I love field hunting in pipe line areas like that. Love them enough to climb a pole that is stronger than a gun? NO FLIPPIN WAY! Some people are just plain dumb.

don' t know if you all have ever heard of the darwin awards but it is a great yet slightly morbid book... for those of you who don' t know.. the darwin awards are stories submitted to a company who publishes books about stupid people who meet their end in stupid ways.. well i think i' ve got a doozie story to give them about a very stupid hunter who met his end very stupidly here in my own little town... ok.. the story starts with a guy from inner manhatten who has never before hunted... we shall call him Mr. X. Mr. X went out and bought everything on this earth that had to do with hunting and came up here with about 300 pounds more than anything he needed... Along with Mr. X' s supplies he bought the most expensive treestand he could find.. on his way up to our little town you have to pass through many roads with tall electric poles and just on the outskirts of main street he came across a 6pt buck who was crossing the road just in front of him.. now Mr. X had a bright idea... he was going to go back at dusk (he had read a book that said that deer cross roads generally at dusk to go back to their bedding of feeding areas) and put his shiney new treestand up one of the electric poles and sit there and wait for that 6pt buck to walk back through... now sitting in a tree stand you can get pretty tired.. and his shiney new rifle with all of the goodies you can get for a rifle was getting pretty heavy... so Mr. X leaned his rifle up over his shoulder and lo and behold found out that his gun is metal and metal and electric lines don' t mix especially when you are hanging on to the metal part... i also remind you that he was hunting his deer out of season, without ever taking a hunter' s education course, without a licence, and without a tag... a man who had been driving on the same road called the cops when he found a loaded rifle laying in the middle of the road.. all they had to do was look up and they found poor Mr. X sitting in his chair rather crispy... this is a true story about a hunter who thought that just because he could buy it all he knew it all... just goes to show being rich only gets you sitting in an expensive chair and all though you may be very high up you will get burned

I posted this in the offseason... maybe you should read it? not saying that anybody is stupid here... just might make for a bit of good reading...

Poor Mr X; the sentence for his stupidity was the electric chair...

Man, i hate it when a buck wins a battle vs. a hunter. But this time i am glad that the 6 point won. Now i have one question. If you add Mr. X with Sugar and spice do you get a nice fried hunter? Or just a big puff of smoke?
