Would you help him?
If you were hunting on public land and walking out to your truck after an uneventful morning hunt and ran into another hunter dragging a deer by himself or with someone, would you stop and help him/them drag the deer?
Good Hunting |
RE: Would you help him?
Depends on our age difference! If he was much younger than me, I wouldn't help (gotta save my strength:D). If he was handicapped, or my age or older, then yeah, I'd ruck up and lend a hand!
|
RE: Would you help him?
Give him a hand. Hopeful he'll get the chance to return the favour.
|
RE: Would you help him?
Absolutely. I always try to help others whenever I can. Someday it'll be me in a situation and I know I'll appreciate the help when I need it.
|
RE: Would you help him?
I would give him a hand. Ya never know he might slip you some good info. If not you'll at least get a good story out of it.
|
RE: Would you help him?
Darn right I would, heck I just turned 50 and was very happy that the guy hunting hunting the property next to me helped drag out my last buck, heck we even talked about setting stands together next season. I view hunters as a brother/sisterhood and as a result really feel we should help each other out any time we can.
|
RE: Would you help him?
Well when I was in better health, you bet, heck even if you can help them carry there gear that's something. We may argue(debate) alot on this forum but I bet if it came down to it most of us would help each other.:)

RE: Would you help him?
Sure I would offer!

RE: Would you help him?
why wouldn't you?
i can't be mad at him because he connected and i didn't give him a hand - be a good sport |
RE: Would you help him?
absolutely although i have never got much help on those long drags
|
RE: Would you help him?
Absolutely!! I help whenever I can. Good way to get some scent too!! I killed a buck 5 years ago. I had just finished dressing it and getting my gear together. I was alone. I was just about ready to start dragging and i see 2 guys coming down the path walking out. They come up to me and we chat for awhile. Talking about my buck and the land etc............ Anyway they say well good luck rest of the year and start walking off. I start dragging and they walk ahead of me lol. Didn't bother me that much cause I would have been dragging myself anyway. Just found it a little weird.

RE: Would you help him?
NY Bowhunter to me that is really weird, maybe it has something to do with me being a southerner, but I can not imagine not helping drag another hunters deer out or at least offering!
|
RE: Would you help him?
In a heartbeat I'd help drag a deer out for someone I didn't know. I love hearing stories of successful hunts and whats a better way to hear one.
I can believe that others wouldn't help and I firmly believe what goes around comes around and someday those 2 guys will be in need of a helping hand and they'll get the same amount of help they offered NY Bowhunter. Crawdaddy |
RE: Would you help him?
I help anytime I can and have helped track, dress and drag .... I believe in karma and the classic Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I know when i bag a biggun I will definately appreciate the help and you wouldn't believe just from helping track down somebodies deer for him when he lost the bloodtrail probably helped him to recover every deer he shot from then on.... its a great chance to teach through example so instead of giving up looking after 10 minutes I bet he'll walk to his truck grab his spray bottle with H2O2 and go find his deer from now on:D
...and it makes me feel good to help another person out:) |
RE: Would you help him?
Yep! Done it a time or two. I'd do it again.
|
RE: Would you help him?
Yep. I have helped on two so far this year. None of mine yet.
|
RE: Would you help him?
Yep, I'd help him out if he wanted me to.
|
RE: Would you help him?
yep, done it before.
The one time this old crank of a guy I drug a deer out for, didn't even have the courtesy to say thank you. It was like he expected someone to come over and help him. |
RE: Would you help him?
no brainer .....help em drag it out. Its all about Karma man
|
RE: Would you help him?
I would help. Makes ya have a warm and fuzzy feeling!;)
|
RE: Would you help him?
I have and will continue to help anyone in the field who needs it. There have been times in my life that I couldn't have gotten one out without the help of some good samaritan and it's only fitting I return the favor.
|
RE: Would you help him?
You bet :), why not, i figure if the she were on the other foot id apperciate the help, I would offer to help in hopes(like said) in time someone would help me!! Its just a good thing to do.
|
RE: Would you help him?
I would definetly. Hunters, archery, rifle, slug, any kind of hunter is like family to me.

RE: Would you help him?

|
RE: Would you help him?

|
RE: Would you help him?
of course i would; i wish the two guys that watched me and my two friends drag a doe up a muddy like 60 degree angle hill woulda helped, but instead they just watched us and then walked away.It was hard enough for us to get up let alone drag that doe up with us.buti woutl or atleast offer and if he/she declined then i would go on walkin.
|
RE: Would you help him?
Not only help drag but a friend of mind is allergic to deer hair ( so he says ) and I field dressed his deer and dragged it out of the woods for him....
|
RE: Would you help him?
I would help someone if they needed it. Hunters need to stick together, and helping each other is just a way to help build the partnership. I always stop to talk to other hunters when I get a chance, or help them if they need it. I have met some pretty nice people over the years. You never know when you will need help either.
|
RE: Would you help him?
Of course I would help a fellow hunter drag his deer out,it's like an unwritten rule to me.And I get to share the success with the hunter I help.

RE: Would you help him?
We are hunters, and we help other hunters out. I would give him a hand, even though he would probably be bigger and stronger than I.
|
RE: Would you help him?
One of my huntin' buddies went and got his 4 wheeler when mine wouldn't start to help me retrieve my deer. He wasn't even hunting with me that day. About 3 weeks ago I helped him track a deer until about 10:30 pm when we finally gave up. Give a little, get a little.
|
RE: Would you help him?
sure i would.what comes around goes around:)
|
RE: Would you help him?
I always do, and it seems like there is always someome there for me too when I need help. I appreciate the man and his wife from Butte this year, his name was Gary and they help me in loading my elk in the back of my truck when I was down in Gardiner, thanks folks, Bobby ;)

RE: Would you help him?
always have, always will...
|
RE: Would you help him?
I have stopped hunting to help others out before. In retirn the same thing has been done for me. I have drug more than my share of deer alone for long distances and I wouldnt wish that on anyone. Oh and by the way....2 of my favorite people in the world were 2 guys that I helped out one year. We have gone on hunting trips together for the last 20 years and hopefully that wont end anytime soon.
|
RE: Would you help him?
You bet I would. You never know if it might be the owner of the property next to you and just might give you a edge on hunting there also.
Just never know, Could be the making of a great friendship also Rick |
RE: Would you help him?
I wouldnt have any problem helping out if he looked like he needed a hand.
