Okay after reading food for thought, reminded me of something that i was told this mornin at work. This women i wrk with was telling me about weekend with her son that came hme from alska on leave-they went out hunting and after not seeing much through out the season they decided that it didnt make any differance to what was going to get shot, they ended up taking a couple of does, just b/c. now its all done and over with but it still very disturbing. She preaches ethics and things should be done certain ways then turns around and contrdicts all!! now mind you there were' nt any " doe tags" they were just shot for the sake of doing so. There really is' nt any ? here, but it just pi**es me that the ones that preach about ' the right thing' turn around and do stupid sh** !!!![:@][:@]..Thanks for the oppertunity to vent/rant. any thoughts? (ok i guess that would be one ?)

Yeap poacher not preacher and ain' t funny(well not really) that it seem all to often to be the way. Web, I too have run across the same individuals and how they preach ethic or this way only to turn and take the other road they have supposedly so hardly fought against.[:@]! My take is these people talk the line only so that they somehow feel better about their actions, they gets so wraped up in the BS that they actually might believe they didn' t do or act in a certain way...just guilt and BS. Either way you should feel free to give her the what for, after all it wasn' t you who did wrong this past weekend. Give her something to chew on, I know you work with her and it can make thing uncomfortable but let me ask you after hearing the story " How did you feel????" Do you really think she thought about that before blabing about her weekend??? I would tell her I didn' t agree or enjoy that story and question her about her how much she believes in her ethics stance...obviously walking the walking is missing and she is just talking the talk, she needs to realize people ain' t buying it and she needs to either back up the talk or just learn to shut her trap...either way you' ll be a WINNER[:-]

You know, it is terrible that non-hunters and anti' s don' t see a difference between a " hunter" and a " poacher," but I can see that sometimes we hunters do not even decern the difference between hunting and poaching either!
I have seen in this thread and in other threads too that what we are being upset with is not other " hunters" but " poachers!
There is a difference! To me no matter if the issue is taking an illegal deer or trespassing, when someone commits illegal acts, they are no longer " hunters!" They are poachers!!!!

Tough call to say what it is. Poaching or subsidizing? Is she going through a difficult time where she is and needs the deer to supplement her food bill in order to provide for herself and boy, or is she shooting them to waste, or just wanting to kill a deer, because she may believe she derserves one? I really don' t know, because of not knowing her side of the story. Not to mention the signal she may be giveing her son. I would dig into it a little bit more.
