Lack of knowledge hunting mistake.

Tough spot—mistakes happen, especially when you’re new. Good on you for being honest. Wearing proper gear like gloves shows you were prepared; here’s a solid option for quality deerskin gloves. Talking to a local wildlife attorney might also help. Hope it works out for you both.

What in Hades does wearing proper gloves prove to anyone? Do you even hunt?

That's a really tough situation, sorry you're going through that. It might be worth consulting with a lawyer who specializes in hunting regulations before your next meeting. They can help you navigate the potential fines and might be able to argue for leniency given it was an honest mistake.
