I sight in my 30cal. rifles at 25 yds.Then back up to 100 to fine tune the windage.
Your good up to 250 yds. on a deer size animal.

I' ve never tried the looking down the barrel method, i took my 308 to little store that sells guns-ammo, clothing and others assortment of items. when i went in i ended up buying a different set of scope rings and a different base, due to the one i bought wasnt the right one, EVEN though that was what it said on the package, anyhow he gaurenteed it to be in a 6x6 squre @ 100yrds. he was even closer then that, it was 3 in to left and 2 in low. i was impressed. with a litle expeirment w/different ammo hellped, now its 3/4 groups @ 150. i got it that close so i figured i' d leave well enough alone....didnt mean to run on so much, good luck with yours
