I had (have) very large buck also where I hunt. I'll get pics of them in late summer during the day but once archery season starts and they get that first whiff of human they vanish. My buddy says they go into groundhog holes! I almost tend to agree with him. I hunt exclusively public land and always see big buck on my trail cams. One year in particular I had a monster I named Stickers because of all the junk on his rack. I hunted all year for him and never saw him except on cam in the middle of the night. Not even during the rut. I did end up killing a nice buck toward the end of the season and never saw Stickers again.

Sounds like you have skittish bucks going nocturnal. It can happen. What time of day are you hunting? I've noticed that during the season, buck go nocturnal and sometimes see them on my cams at daybreak.

^^^ What he said. The older bucks get wise quickly and disappear during daytime.

I hunt from Before light too dark sometimes, but fail to see the monsters!...In recent weeks in have been tracking after a light snow and get a nice one on cam the night before. I really believe they travel a little farther than one would think.
