Back from Canada...
Finally I' m back from my Ontario trip....We got up there at 10:30 on Sat and hunted Sun through Wed morning. I shot an 11 pt buck on Monday morning at 8:10. He field dressed out at 230 and around 280-285 on the hoof. The rack is pretty cool looking. 15 1/2 inside spread....17 1/2 outside...split G2' s on both sides and a little palmatted(sp?) right before the G2' s. Not a huge rack, but good enough to not pass on. It should score out at 135-140. I wish there were more of a little story behind the kill, but I heard it coming into me at around 150 yards, but I didn' t see it until it was 40 yards from where I shot it. He stepped out into a shooting lane at 75 yards and didn' t walk a step further. I' ll tell you that shooting Federal 150 grain ballistic tip out of a 30-06 does some pretty awesome damage. We didn' t see a lot of deer, but we really didn' t hunt all that hard. If we would have put some more time in the woods....we would have saw more. The rut is on big time up there. I can try and post some pics when I get them developed.

RE: Back from Canada...
Thanks. It was a great trip. Had a lot of fun and saw some new country that I' ve never hunted in before. This was my 1st deer with a rifle(I' ve shot many with the bow and slug hunting though).
We brought the meat back, but you have to de-bone it 1st. The rack has to have all the meat and brains cleaned off the skull bone. We also brought the cape back, but that really can' t have too much meat or blood on it. Atleast this was what the border guy said. We had all this done before hand just to make sure we didn' t have to do any of it at the border. That would have sucked big time. He told us about a guy(idiot) that brought a WHOLE dang moose to the border.....in hide and all. LOL They told him the only way he could take it home was to do all of that in the cold right in front of the station. That would have been funny to see.
