I got a spike 3 years ago when I was 41 with a Mossberg 500 shotgun using a 1oz slug and shot him about 70 yards from a tree stand. That was my fist deer ever and since than, I can' t stop getting them. I have been hunting deer on and off for 8 years now.

I' m 49, and still haven' t taken my first deer. The fact that I only started hunting two years ago probably has something to do with it
...
Our area has also had drought the last several seasons, which probably kept the herds down. We' ve seen several deer this year, so I' m looking forward to getting out and getting my first one soon.

Use to bow hunt years ago and then gave up hunting. Just started back..soooo...I' m looking to get my first deer this year. But the most important thing for me this year is to help my son get his first deer. This will be his first hunt.

I got my first deer when I was 13 years old. It was a spike and I was using my 7600 Remington 6MM for the first time. I used that gun for 15 seasons, and it wasn' t until last year that I moved to a 30-06.
The four inch spikes on that buck' s head looked like a ten point to me... I' ll never forget that day!
