Wild persimmon trees are a good food source for wildlife including deer. I love to eat wild american persimmon fruit myself --- but they're only ripe after the first frost. The persimmon bark is kinda alligator dark black and distinct. I care for them while out in the sticks, by sawing & removing any vines that snake around the persimmon trees. Because of global warming & high carbon dioxide levels....vines have pretty much taken over some forests here in Maryland; so much that I want to de-vine a majority of the trees in my hunting spots.
