A friend and I are going on a 3-4 day non-resident hunt to Black river state forest, in Jackson Co WI. Just wanting to hear some opinions, stories, experiences from anyone who has bowhunted this land. Tips, tricks, areas of focus do's dont's are all appreciated.

Don't shoot the Elk ! its worse than murdering someone----stay out of the casino---look for rub lines and funnels at this time, lowland and marsh edges are always good in this area I have land and hunt about 15 miles or so north of that area

Will steer clear of the elk, can’t guarantee the same about the casino haha.. I’ve heard good things about the marsh’s we will definitely focus on the edges. If we can find a group of doe, or a rub line I’ll feel more confident about the days ahead . Thanks for the advice!

I hunt the Black River Forest and some adjacent private land myself. Got a cabin east of Hatfield. I will be up there the first week in Nov. Look for white oaks. They've got a healthy crop of acorns this year. The mild winter has allowed the bucks to sprout some good antlers this year. Had a trail camera out for a month between the middle of August and the middle of Sept. Had 195 deer pics on it. I'm stoked.
