Looks like the rut is starting in my part of the woods. Just need to try to get out as much as I can the next few days. Maybe try rattling or something. Never really tried aggressive calling like that. Any tips?

The rut in Fla can be from Sept to Feb depending on where you are in the state.
South Fla is usually earlier and North Fla.
As far as rattling, never had any luck with it. I just like to find an active scrape and set up on it, and wait for a big buck to check it. Hunting scrapes can be very productive, here are a few tips.
Do not get to close to the scrape, shooting range and where you have a clear view.
Watch your scent and wind direction, when you can.
Get a comfortable stand and sit all day , or as long as you can.
Sneak in early and be as quite and use as little light as possible.
I do not use Deer scent to attract the deer: but, I use a buck bomb, just to mask my scent. ( never really had much luck with deer scents either)

I'd love to sit all day, but when it's 90+ degrees. No thanks. I know it's picky but it's just to hot. After I sit in the morning I guess I could always walk around and try to grunt and rattle a little and see if that does anything. I could also possibly put a doe in heat drag going as well. Just not fun hunting in north Florida around this time because of the heat.
