I know this is a vague question but it seems interesting what we all have to deal with.
My dad owns 120 acres. We have 6 different neighbors. Swamp land is shared with three of them. Of the three, two of them use it for hunting and the third is a non hunter.
Of the other 3 neighbors, one is a non-hunter, one is an avid hunter and the other hunts during the gun season and allows his kids and his friends to use thier 40 acres as an ATV race course.
So my main concern is the race course and the avid hunter. We allow them both to shoot deer that is on our property, but with the avid hunter he has many friends that sit on our shared property line. I have told him that he had better inform his friends they have no permission to shoot deer on our property. I cannot stand the thought of what kind of hunters his friends could be. Referring to trigger happy friends. Most of the deer reside on my dads land with the abundant of low area he has. I don' t care how many hunter friends he has as long as they wait for the deer to cross the property line. I have had a slug wiz by me because someone shot acroos property lines.
Also have a problem with running dogs.
Both hunting neighbors have shot bigger deer than I have and the deer have been on my dads land when shot and I don' t have an envy problem. Just them being in the right place at the right time.

I' d resort to putting up posted signs. Aside from that there isn' t much you can do except keep an eye on them. That' d take away time from your season though.

[1] There land, they can do as they want as long as it is legal.
[2] If they want to shoot deer on his land that is between him(avid hunter) and them(trigger happy hunters). If they cross the line call the game warden.
I have one question.... you get along with the avid hunter but then you turn around and say he lets trigger happy folks hunt with him. If he allows this kind of hunting then how do you not know he is the same way?

I am not bitching and moaning.
I am asking what do you have to deal with when dealing with your neighbors?
Another note on me. The non hunter swamp sharing landowner once thought we built a stand on her land. So she gave permission for hunters to tresspass on our land. Why I let them continue with the drive is still in my thoughts. They end up shooting two fawns. I basically told them not to do it again or else. The last person to get his vehicle was a local police officer very red in the face.

There ought to be a law about putting stands right on property lines. My hunting land has the same problems.
Unfortunatly, the simple fact is, if there' s a good place to hunt right on the line, you better put a stand there. If you don' t your neigbor will.

Dealing with neighbors like this is always a sticky topic when deer hunting comes into play. If they shoot a deer on your property and drag it back, it' s hard to stop unless you witness it. You could pace a stand on the line as well and ask a friend to sit in it when you can not. Use the radio to keep in contact. Put up posted signs or fence could also be done. They say fences make good neighbors.
The other thing you could do is try to reason with them and state that if they shoot a deer on your dad' s property and harvest it, than you should receive half the meat. Try to work out a deal or speak with them first, than I would still put up a stand and keep an eye on them.
Good luck....
