Lone Wolf, I killed my first deer the same day in the same youth hunt!
Mine was a 3pt spike (one of the antlers broken off) harvested at 25 yards with my Remington Model 673 .308 Win. The high shoulder shot dropped him, immediately.
Man, I saved up allowance money for over a year, and even then my dad had to give me a "loan" that it took several more months to pay off. Such a special time.

My first deer was a spike mulie that I shot in 1965, hunting with one of my college roommates in northwest Colorado. I used a Winchester .32 Special that he loaned me.
I also hunted with him in the same area the next year and killed my first elk, a 5x5 using a sporterized .30-40 Krag that I borrowed from my uncle.

My first deer was a 8 point PA buck I took with a 45# Bear Grizzly recurve, fiberglass arrows and Bear Razorheads. I was hunting alone and had a half mile drag to my truck. I was 16. I started hunting at 12 but I had to go with an adult. I swore they always put me in the worst places on stand! At 16 I was able to hunt alone and took the above buck the first day of archery season.

First whitetail was at the ripe old age of 7 with all hand made equipment recurve and arrows. Big old fat doe. Killed 3 more that year with that old bow and a whole lot more in years later. Lovely thing about a well built recurve is you can "grow into" it. First buck was the ripe old age of 9 and I got called everything but a white boy when the old man saw that beast
Taken with a 30/30.
