RE: what type of ground do you hunt on
Let' see -
80 acres of private land in NW, IL. 50 of it is wooded, the other 30 is corn fields.
115 acres private land in NW, IL. Only 15 acres or so of woods, the rest is ag. fields and pasture. Lots of small woody ravines that the big boys like to bed in though.
Then I' ve got several thousand acres to hunt on here in the NW burbs of Chicago that is owned by a large dairy farm. Most of it is all ag fields, with small patches of woods here and there. I' m only allowed to hunt certain portions of the property in exchange for helping keep trespassers off the land.

We hunt square miles worth of Cheqamagon National Forest Land in northwest Wisconsin. They have hunter walking trails cut thru some of it, no motorized vehicles allowed on these certain trails. Mostly Hardwoods with a sprinkling of pine and swamps mixed in.

3000 acres of private land surrounded by 13,000 acres of public land. It' s mostly big woods. The 13,000 of public land is swamp and mature forest with beech, maple, cherry and hemlock trees. On the private there are several hundred acres of overgrown clearcuts and some thick swamps. No agriculture. Two small hayfields and the rest is rugged woodlands.

RE: what type of ground do you hunt on
I have 3 main areas I hunt, all private land w/permission. 1 is about 600 acres of crop land, fairly good early season, 1 is 100 acres of woods and hills, only seen 6 deer there in 3 years so I dont go there often. 1 is 85 acres of woods and hills, see deer there almost every time I go, I just started hunting there about 3 weeks ago so I am still scouting it out but like what I see so far
