Its all about your hunting spots. I don't worry about which direction the wind is blowing, just hunt accordingly.

Where I hunt in WV, I get the luxury of typically experiencing all 4 wind directions on just about every hunt. LOL. Drives me crazy. Very rarely do I get a steady wind direction, due to the terrain on our land.

The good thing is, many of our spots the deer come from all directions so it counter acts the swirling wind issue. You can only plan for so much.

Just watch up for those falling limbs from the wind.

Here's another bit of minutia. There is no doubt that where I hunt (SE Al.) the deer move least on days when it is warm, on days when the wind is blowing 15 + mph, and during rain storms. Easterly winds usually mean foul weather is here or soon will be .... and if moving southerly, get ready for a warm up. Unless the does are really "hot", nothing much is going to move except very early and very late in the day ... and all night.

Last 7 days, I hunted in shorts and T-shirt. It's December and still 70+. Get a couple of days of cold and back off and on then to a stretch of record highs. Where the heck is winter !

A lot of people don't know that the barometer is what to watch to predict deer movement if you can't be out there all the time like a lot of us that are retired can be. Even then it's a crap shoot as to how and when they might move. Years ago back in the 80s we took the best buck we ever have at my place up north on Thanksgiving weekend. The wind was blowing at probably 30mph or above for several days and the trees were swaying back and forth so much it's a wonder that a lot didn't break. Even with all of that my boy shot a big 8 pointer right after daylight on Saturday that weekend and he said that buck came through like he didn't have a care in the world when normally with much wind they are very antsy because it diminishes their ability to hear or see predators with stuff moving and the consequent noise.

I just know , the wind , blows. as for fishing in the wind, same can be said fishing in the rain .everyone knows fish won't eat when afraid of getting wet.

wind don't matter . best time to hunt or fish is anytime you can.

Now as to fishing remember this: "Wind from the west is the best, and wind from the east is the least!"

Animals are all the same above and below the water line i guess.
