Whitetail Population by State?

Anyone know of a website which shows recent whitetail populations by state or a whitetail density map?

The density map would be what you're looking for I think. A deer/square mile list. As population numbers would depend on the states size. I'd be interested in seeing this too.

Thanks Topgun. I had seen that but didn't know how up to date it was.

says 2005, also need more scales, stops at "less than 15" that's pretty much all of New England.

I agree Bob.

Not accurate for N.WI. Two years back, I would put the population in our area at about 5-15 per square mile after years of nearly unlimited doe tags given out. Now, the DNR has gone the other direction - not a single doe tag two years in a row now. A happy medium of limited tags would be nice.

Hey, I didn't make the chart! All I did was a quick google and didn't even look to see that the chart might be 10 years old.

I found this. It doesn't have all states, but it does show estimated 2014 populations for the top 20 whitetail states according to NAW.

I see two dates on the map, 2005 and 2011. This may have been a map even older. Prior to 2002, population was quite a bit higher up here in N. WI.
