Other advice I can add....bring him in short hunts. Sitting all day waiting for a deer is OK for someone who is a hunter but kids don't usually have that kind of attention span. A friend of mine who was an ardent hunter brought his son along with him beginning at 10 and burned him out. The kid at 15 said he didn't enjoy it.

Mac I'll second CI's ground blind. Make it fun. Make it comfortable. Make it safe. Stay on the ground.
I have used many brands of ground blinds. You pay for what you get. If you think you will be using this ground blind for years to come buy a Double Bull 360 and forget the rest. The fabric is better. Blind quality is better. You take good care of it and it will far out last all the other brands hands down. And the Primos warranty is outstanding. I have 2 one is 13 yrs old the other is 11. Both are still in excellent shape. I use them for deer, turkey, bird watching.
They keep me dry and warm.
One thing to consider. Call Primos at times they have reconditioned cheaper and they still come with that warranty.
