Why is buckshot illegal this season?

Why is buckshot illegal this season?
I was wondering if anyone knew. I live in Arkansas, and it said in our 2003-2004 guidebook we can only use slugs. I' m new to hunting this season, has this always been the case?

In many states slugs are only allowed. Buckshot while lethal up close has been abused in the past by taking shots that are beyond its range. I am not sure about Arkansas as to why or when it was disallowed.

Ditto that , Indiana banned shot because azzholes were taking hail Mary shots and wounding too many deer each year . Personally , I totally agree with their decision , and wouldn' t mind a bit if they limited us to single shot weapons as well . The same jerks are still out there now with one in the chamber and five in the mag . Believe it or not , most of them jump the deer out of their beds and take running shots with scopes ! [:@]
