Default Free scent - Hijacking scrapes

Here's a new tactic: If you want to use scents, carry a large ziplock baggie. When you come across a good, well used scrape, turn the baggie inside out, being careful not to touch the inside. Wear it like a glove and scoop up some of the scrape dirt, especially any dirt that is caked or clumpy from urination. Seal it up, stick it in your pocket. Don't use it on the land you got it from because the deer know those scents already. Use it on another property, rub the dirt into tree trunks around where you'll be hunting. Wear rubber gloves and try to minimize leaving any human scent. This dirt is chock full of "trespassing" deer scent. Bucks and does will both investigate the scent of the new "intruders."

This is also a great tactic for creating mock-scrapes. You can even snap off part of the licking branch and hang it above the new scrape. Though I would only do that on your own private land, otherwise you may be screwing up other hunters working the scrape you just hijacked.

Finally, you can sprinkle a little of it over other scrapes, which will definitely cause a ruckus

Again, only disturb scrapes on your own private land. Otherwise you could be screwing up other hunters.
