Skull cap stench
Does anyone have any tips for removeing stench from a skull cap?
Ive removed all the flesh but it still stinks.
Ive heard you could rub vanilla on it to neuteralize.
Any tips would be greatly appriciated.

I've always put the skulls on an ant pile and let them get it off. Only risk of this is varmints getting it, which has happened a time or two. Also, boiling water in a fish fryer and leaving it in it for about 10 minutes should help too.

No ants in a lot of places during deer season though.

Yea it's really only bow season when I can do that. Gun season is wayyyyy too cold for the ants. Good idea though, Rockport. Never have thought of doing that and I have many traps for coons. Probably could have saved myself a few skulls so, l'll be trying that!

Yeah I reckon I could do it in early bow season as well. Ive just never had to do that with a skull cap and the entire skull wouldn't be done before the ants were gone.
