RE: DEMANDING RESPECT as a deer hunter.....

Sweetwater like others I am confused about where you are going with this. To me there are three types of respect:

1. Respect given This to me is the most important form of respect any one should have, I give respect to God, mother nature, my elders, my coworkers, and everyone else unless they prove they do not deserve respect. This type of respect gets you respect type #2.

2. Earned respect What I mean by this and I am sure you know people who have earned your respect as I have, is people that through their actions and beleifs have earned your respect whether you know them or not. To me if you have earned someones respect for anything you are a pretty good person and an example to be followed.

3. Demanded respect This to me is only used by parents or in some cases the military or penal system. This is a method of teaching someone who has no respect what respect is. To me this type of respect is the last one you want to have from some one. This is an important thing a parent to demand from their children because once they learn respect and to give it they to will earn respect. Demanded respect is borderline forced respect and in reality is not respect, but fear.

Sweetwater,

Did you fall out of a treestand and land on your head?

You wear shirts that relate to your passion & the respect is given. You did not ask them for it, but rather DEMANDED IT by your selected clothin
What exactly did you wear to a little league game? Could bew you thought you were getting respect and got the exact opposite reaction.

I may choose to arrive to the stand & perform a ritual each time I get there - perhaps I will circle my stand backwards (after setting my gun or bow down for safety) or do a one-legged hop when I arrive to get me mentally prepared for thhe hunt.
Sounds to me like you DEMANDED one more for the road after the last call:D

I love this thread. The confusion and responses are great!:D

I simply wear something camo to practice or a deer hunting shirt that says fear no deer. Stuff like that. I' m not an activist nor am I looking for a fight. Just want people to know that nice guys who love their kids to death actually hunt and kill stuff. People who make comments do it jokingly and if they don' t they don' t seem to say anything. Just my way of keeping hunting out there.

I usually skip through the woods swinging my arms high and fast, and periodically break out into a loud chorus of " We Will Rock You!" . The deer respect this so much, they tend to stay completely out of my way!:D;)

Sweetwater, lay off the amphetamines, get some sleep and lighten up. I respect you as a hunter without your DEMANDING it.;)

lol, I like to swing from the trees like tarzan all the way to my stand. Once there I stand on the platform and yell at the top of my lungs, " Me hunter, You deer" . :D;)
