RE: SQUIRREL ALERT?
Good question, I' ve wandered that myself. I just try to remain as still as possible and not put anything on alert. Better safe than sorry.

RE: SQUIRREL ALERT?
I have harvested two deer directly because of their barking. In fact, one time it was me barking at a squirrel. I was sitting in a ladder stand and this squirrel was running around about 20 feet from the stand. Been there about 3 hours, and being bored I started barking. He ran from tree to tree, real frantic as he couldn' t spot me. After about 5 minutes, I happened to look to my right, a doe was standing about 15 feet from the stand looking at me. Finally it started looking for acorns. I gradually raised my muzzle loader, cocked it and proceeded to harvest her. The other time a squirrel got one' s attention, again a doe but this one was about 50 yds away. No problem, it was reg. gun season.
I' ll take a barking squirrel anytime. Russ |
