this is going to be my first year muzzle loader hunting, I live in Illinois and wanted to know if anyone knows if I can hunt with my muzzle loader during shotgun season, if so do I just buy a regular shotgun tag? also I am going with my uncle who is using a shotgun if that matters. Thanks to anyone who knows.

Why don't you just go to the Illinois DNR web site and look at the regulations/law.

In Michigan you can use a Ml during any season except archery season.

Don't know about other states, have to read the Regulations...

I believe IL changed the rules a couple years ago to allow ML use on both weekends, but check the DNR site for all regs.

As long as you have a shotgun tag you can hunt with your muzzleloader during gun season in Illinois. Google "Illinois deer regulations" and it will have all the information on there. I'd take a look at it, regs are always changing.
