I really like my Savage 7mm-08,great shooting and lighter recoil.

There isn't a deer or bear that can survive being shot in the vitals with either caliber. Both are based on the same case and both the 7mm and 30 caliber bullets will work well on game. If I had to choose, I'd go with the 308 simply because I can get a little heavier bullets and I'm a believer in heavy bullets. But I'd happily hunt with either anytime, anyplace.
