Sc Low Country Opening Day 8pt
We had a an eventful opening weekend!!! Our first hunt was Thursday evening and we sat over a peanut field. I had Daniel with me. We had action from the moment we sat down. Even with the pouring rain, we saw 13 turkeys and 22 deer (9 bucks). I was able to kill my first Velvet Buck. Main frame 8 with a small nub on the right antler. Our total count for the weekend was 34 deer sightings in 4 sittings and 13 bucks. Gonna be a good season!!!!

SC has probably the earliest opening and the longest season in the US. Its good to live 2hrs from their border but dont have time to make it.
Great first go, now curious what do you do with the velvet antlers. Do you clean them and mount them or leave em be. New never really looked into this.

Thanks guys....
The buck will be mounted with the velvet on the antlers. The taxidermists dips them in a solution to preserve them.
I hunt in Colleton County. The season starts Aug 15 - Dec 31
Surprisingly - it was in the mid 60's in the morning and didn't get past 72 in the afternoons. Overcast all weekend and some rain mixed in there. The skeeters weren't too bad either.
