If I understand you and the FWC site, seasons do not pertain to WMAs and other property managed by the state. Correct?

That's what I was wondering about,no the seasons have nothing to do with the WMA's.If it's the WMA's then you just have to hunt per there restrictions.

if i were an avid archery hunter i would be appalled! I used to bow hunt but they have an early ml season and i just wait a few weeks for that season to open, it lasts only one week.

From what I read in the regs it looks like small portions of the four zones of the state the Fish and Game is testing. This may be what he's talking about. Most of the state will stay as usual. I guess if you are in one of these test areas it would suck.

According to the state biologist the lease has to have a survey done by a certified biologist. They set the number of deer to be killed of either sex. They can be killed by any legal means during the season. Guns during bow. Spears during muzzleload, it don't matter how. However when the said quota is reach the deer killing stops. So wiping out the population is not possible. If your property has a low deer density you might have a short season. But if you are over run with deer you can gun hunt from October to the end of February...tony
