has anyone seen this? I would like to know more details on what happened before. Pretty wild regardless.

That reminds me of those Internet vids that have the character pop up and scream at the end. I would have said that deer was deader than a door nail. That's crazy!

That's why they always say approach from the rear and tap the eyes.

The deer was most likely spined and went straight down. Any time a deer is spinned you need to be careful when approaching it. Deer wont go anywhere after being spinned but could appear dead when approaching. I always tap a deer in the butt then the eye to confirm its deceased when I walk up.

If you notice, the deers eyes are wide open and you can see the white. Next time you shoot a deer, pay attention and you'll see that the white rarely will be showing on a dead deer. I have first hand experience in walking up to a deer that looked dead but the whites of the eyes were showing and it was still alive. Always poke the eye to make sure it's done.

Guy needed to drop the camera and put a finisher in it immediately, not keep the camera rolling. It sucks seeing 'em injured like that.

M.Wuen, if you pay attention to the video, there are 2 people there. They are doing a retrieval of the buck that one of them harvested. One fellow was videoing the retrieval, and the other had the gun. The one with the camera could drop it, throw it, or stomp the camera into the ground, and still had no way to dispatch the buck. If anyone hunts for any substantial length of time, there is a high probability that you will wound a deer. At this point you track it and get another arrow or bullet into it to dispatch it.

I have seen it many times. I've even had quite the same scenario, where I came up on a hillside washout. The buck was laying there, but had his head up looking at us. The fellow shot it in the head. We walked up to it, poked and prodded it, and rejoiced the harvest. Then it started to move. lol The last bullet had gone under the skin just beneath the antler, and exited under the jaw (unbeknownst to us). Another well placed shot and he was dispatched. It happens, It's hunting.

I just about got my head kicked off by a mule buck a few years ago. Solid hit, he dropped like a rock. I walked up to him, and by all accounts, he was dead. Poked him and nothing. I walked to the front end, and started to bend over to flip him, and he let loose with both front feet. He was dead, and didn't know it yet.

That video makes me sad - I hate that situation. My camp spined two different deer last season since the gun being used hadn't been sighted in correctly and was shooting 10" high. Got to be a part of the coup de grace both times & both times it sucked.
