Here locally in Montana, you can donate the meat through a processor, but you still have to pay a $40.00 of $45.00 processing fee. I have a few people I work with that gladly take an extra deer or two a year from me if I have it to give.

I try to donate one a year. This year it happened to be a road kill that got hit when it ran from my woods on the way out and was hit. Just dropped it off at the processor and they take care of it from there.
