What Will He Score (ballpark)?

Give me a ballpark score on this buck

early in 01-04-2013 03:03 PM

That's a nice mount. He looks like maybe 135"-140", give or take. Whatever he scores, I'd love to have him on my wall. :s2: Is that a NJ buck?

BOWHUNTERCOP 01-04-2013 03:08 PM

Illinois 2009, shotgun

Buckyou 01-04-2013 03:11 PM

the score would be ........... him 0 - you 1

133 6/8ths

BP_Niccum 01-04-2013 03:46 PM

Pushing 140 ish

Topgun 3006 01-04-2013 04:10 PM

You guys got to be kidding! That buck is easily well into the 150s if he's an inch and he would lose only a few inches in deducts as symetrical as he is!!!

BP_Niccum 01-04-2013 04:13 PM

Doubtful he is small around the bases he will be in the 140s

Topgun 3006 01-04-2013 04:20 PM

Baloney! That buck has great mass from the bases all the way to the tips on every tine and the lengths of each are great too. His brows are small, but everything else more than makes up for them. His width isn't fantastic, but that is one beautiful buck! How in the world can you say those bases are small? If the OP can make a few measurements I'd like to know what his base circumferences are, as well as his longest tine lengths. Your first post said pushing 140 and your second says in the 140s, so if you add another 10-15 inches you are close!

BP_Niccum 01-04-2013 04:23 PM

Im not arguing hes a great buck, Hes just heavy up top but that mass dosnt start out that way on the base. Ill compramise with you Top gun 149 7/8s! I agree with all that your saying minus the bases. Though I too would like to know what the base measurs too. He would gross the 150s I just dont think as a typical hes going to make it that high.

skinnnner 01-04-2013 05:25 PM

High 130s low 140s bases are smaller then the eye and brows will hurt it

I agree with you. If he is not 150 he is close.

Topgun 3006 01-04-2013 06:07 PM

Has anyone gone onto the B&C scoring page and punched in your numbers on this buck to come up with the scores you're stating? I did and I kept lowering most of the numbers several times and the lowest he came out was 153".

skinnnner 01-04-2013 07:36 PM

Im not seeing 150 id agree to 138

ManofTheFall 01-04-2013 08:39 PM

I would say 135-145.

BOWHUNTERCOP 01-05-2013 05:18 AM

If I have time next week I will be heading to the NJ Deer Classic & will have it scored. I don't think 150" but I think between 130" 138"

BP_Niccum 01-05-2013 12:44 PM

Haha Now you got to get him scored or will be arguing over this for weeks!

NebBuckHunter 01-05-2013 03:45 PM

I agree. 138-140

Champlain Islander 01-05-2013 04:22 PM

I say pushing 145

DeppedyDogg 01-05-2013 06:58 PM

thats what im saying!!!! 150's!! you should have posted this in the archery forum, a lot of those guys are good at guessing scores.

skinnnner 01-06-2013 08:42 AM

150 lol!Not with those weak brows and mass and spread.i better rescore some of my racks they might score 200

skinnnner 01-06-2013 09:33 AM

Id say they are both a little better than 140

DeppedyDogg 01-06-2013 09:43 AM

Me guesses

1st: 147-1/2
2nd: 144-1/4

Pure guess.

Topgun 3006 01-06-2013 02:27 PM

Neither picture, especially the small one, is really good enough to make a decent guess. I also don't believe anybody is insulting anybody else. That's the whole problem when somebody comes on a forum asking for guesses because that's exactly what it is when you can't put your hands on the rack. I also stated in an associated thread how hard it is to come up with a close score since all you have to be off is an inch on each measurement, which is easy to do just looking at a picture, and you've missed by 15" plus or minus. One or two guys on this thread have put a range of 15", which maybe I should have done too. I could have said 140-155 and would probably be in the ballpark, which is actually the verbiage the OP used to begin with. So what if we are wrong, as it's a guessing game when you look at a picture. You guessed his bases at 4" and I think they will go 5" or a little more based on a mulie that I have that's about the same and he's 5 1/4" by actual measurement!

I agree with you. I have a 193 and a 161 on my wall along with several in the 135 to 145 range and I believe this deer is closer to 150 than 135 for sure. If its not I want be surprised though as the picture is hard to tell.

Topgun 3006 01-06-2013 04:44 PM

Please show us a picture of the 193" you have, as that is one heck of a buck, as is a 161" too!

It is posted on here somewhere. I posted it about a year ago. I will see if I can find that post and if not I will post another pic later. That was his gross score. I cant recall his net score right off but I dont care about net. Ithink he was aroung 180 net.

Topgun 3006 01-07-2013 05:06 AM

What about it? It's nice that you've killed some big deer, BUT that doesn't mean your guess is the correct one on the Forum now does it?

Topgun 3006 01-07-2013 11:59 AM

Put up ten more if you'd like because I said I wasn't going to get in a pissing match over a friggin rack's score, LOL! If I'm wrong on that other one hitting 150" it's no big deal, as I've mentioned in several posts that an inch here or there makes a big difference in final score. It's amazing how you can say those other three deer you posted score better than the one the OP put up when he hasn't had it scored yet, but maybe you're a clairvoyant!

you got in a ping match as soon as you kept talking. and unless that deer has 5 inch mass and 25 inch beams i stand by my 138.

Topgun 3006 01-07-2013 03:08 PM

He just might, but in case you haven't noticed, all of your posts except the last one have been removed from this thread!!!

fritz1 01-07-2013 03:37 PM

Id say 130-140 at the most, I have several 150" class bucks and a 200+" whitetail, this one is not in a 150" class. Look at the length of his ears, a whitetails ears are about 6.5" long, now look at his tines compared to his ears. He is maybe 15" wide, again ear tip to ear tip on a whitetail is about 16", he isnt wider than his ears. His eyegaurds hurt him and he doesnt have enough mass or main beams. The short back tine on the deers right side is going to hurt him as well. I would lean more to a 135 but no more than a 140, before deductions. Nice buck though!!! A shooter for sure, no matter where you are from!!

No it does not.

Topgun 3006 01-07-2013 03:42 PM

Thanks skinnnner, as I think that's the 4th or 5th time you've told us that on this thread, LOL!

No it doesnt.but it does mean he has experiance when judgeing deer.

skinnnner 01-07-2013 07:22 PM

Ill admit judgeing deer can be diffacult,a 300pound deer can make a 140 class rack look small where as a 120 pound deer can make a 140 class rack look big.

jepcho 01-08-2013 06:42 AM

Most of us seem to agree, I say 135 to 140ish.
