Appears he built this stand tailor made for snakes and other critters with that dead space in the roof. Lucky he did not also have a nest of hornets up there!

I've killed plenty that get in our box stands...

Just two black rat snakes finding a cozy quiet place to make love. I'm not in the least bit afraid of snakes, but if one of those would have fallen on me in a stand while still dark, I may would have to check my pants. I sat on a copperhead a couple years ago while turkey hunting. That was an unpleasant surprise that fotunately had a happy ending.

I never had a snake in my tree stand, but earlier this year during early muzzleloader season I had a black snake curled around the bottom of the tree that I had my climber set up on. I just dumped some water out of my water bottle on top of him to get rid of him.
