EHD Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease or Blue tongue
#1

I am from east central Indiana and deer numbers have been way down during gun season. When I was home in early November I shot a nice 6 point. Saw quite a few deer that weekend but my dad has only seen one deer during gun season and the locker plant reported numbers way down during gun season. I even heard a report of 40 deer found dead near a pond in our county. Ourselves we have only found one deer dead on our farm. I was wondering if anyone else has had some of the same observances in your area.
Here is some info on the disease.

looking at that map looks like a bunch of folks either dont hunt those counties or they dont know what they are supposed to be looking for, maybe even eating these animals.
its like aids for deer. all those symptoms, and maybe ya might notice 1...if you are looking for it. i cant re-call ever purposely pulling out a deer tongue just to look at it. the deer in the pic looks like it got hit with a truck or something, the way the top-side is collapsed like it is, or a tree fell on it!
