Glad you found him. I shot a nice 6 pointer which until this season was my largest buck and lost him. He didn't react like I hit him and quickly ran out of site. My FIL and I looked a little but found no hair or blood so assumed I missed. My FIL's brother found him piled up not far away almost a week later. My FIL and I have regretted not looking harder ever since.
On a side note, I was using Winchester Silvertips that didn't always exit. They would blow up inside the deer. I switched to Federal Nosler Partitions and have had exit wounds ever since. I have also never had a deer run out of site since then either. That bullet coming out of a 30-06 knocks them down almost every time.

A deer can go 20 yards in two bounds. I double lunged a buck with my 32 WS couple weeks ago that ran over 150 yards and left no visible blood after the first 30 yards and that was a young buck, dominant bucks take a lot of killing and can go a long way even on a good or perfect shot.
