I have had the best luck with the Hornady SST's. Since switching to them my grouping is much better. I shoot a Rem 870

IMO the Hornady SSTs and Remington Coreloks are the BEST sabot slugs going. But theres a fine line between accuracy and knockdown power. I couldnt explain how happy I was when my new 870 barrel liked the SSTs last fall. In a 20ga id give up alot of accuracy to be able to use the SSTs, 12ga not so much. Ive shot alot of different slug guns over the last 20yrs and hats off to the manufacturers for the improvements they have made given the restrictions they have to work with/within. It all boils down to what your gun will shoot the best. Yup it sucks that sometimes it takes 150$ of trial and error but thats the nature of the beast.

Lightfield Hybrids are the most accurate and deadly of all that I have ever used.

I shoot the Hornady SSTs in my 12ga 870. I used the Corelokts in my 20ga H&R, it didnt shoot the SSTs good at all.

I have flung several hundred rounds of Lightfield Hybrids from my H&R Ultra Slug.

I seriously suggest that u try the 2-3/4 Brenneke Heavy Field Magnum slugs.

They are not cheap, but they are not nearly as expensive as the "sabot of the day" offerings.

If they shoot well from your set up I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed when you see what their 1-1/8 oz. slug does to a deer!

[QUOTE=Mojotex;3973668]Not to sound like a smart a$$ ... but in my view the answer is the one that groups the best out of your set-up. /QUOTE]

Hard to argue with reason. Good Luck!

I've had great luck with Brenneke KO Sabots (not the standard KO, but the one with a sabot). They are a 63 caliber slug, 1 oz at 1650 fps. Shot a pile of deer with them and they perform real well. They are relatively cheap as sabot slugs go. Your 500 may like them, or not. Just have to try a few.

I've seen improvements in accuracy from tightening the barrel nut. Be sure yours is tight and stays consistently tight was you shoot and test slugs.
